Est. 1952 Lincoln Furniture Gallery Ltd. begins it's elegant history in the small picturesque community of Virgil, Ontario. Later becoming Lincoln Interiors & Furniture Gallery, it would continue to grow to become a Niagara leader of modern, original, casual and affordable furniture design for the home, office and cottage .
1960's - Siegfried Wiens while working as a longtime salesman for Lincoln Furniture, would see an opening in the marketplace to begin a new venture starting Peninsula Flooring in 1963. Over the 47 years in business they have focused specifically on meeting the flooring needs of the community. Today it is still run by family and maintains the quality of service and products. As a proud member of FloorsFirst™ they became a part of Canada's largest association of independent floor covering retailers that has been in business since 1938.
1970's - Lincoln Furniture Gallery would take on a new direction in 1974 when Siegfried and Helga Wiens were presented with an opportunity to take over the operations. So with a loan from the (Niagara Credit Union) they were off and running. Siegfried's store reflected the region: Nothing too extreme- just good quality furniture at affordable prices. Throughout the years Siegfried and Helga experienced both great success and many obstacles, but the fondest moments were when their three children Petra, Angela and Siegfried Jr. would help out after school.
1980's - Experiencing great success throughout the 80's and establishing a strong base in the Niagara Region, onsite re-upholstering and quality furniture would prove fruitful. However, as with most family run companies, the stresses and accountability of running your own business lead Siegfried to the natural progression of moving on. Soon Siegfried and Helga would present an offer to there eldest daughter Petra, who knew she was being groomed for years to take over the family business.
1990's - When she took over the reins from her parents in 1996, Petra soon found her niche in business. Not expecting to take over the family business so soon after graduating from Wilfred Laurier University with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. (She was working as a student at General Motors in the finance department). However with a downturn in the economy, and up for the challenge, she knew her next advancement was to come home and take over. Her first course of action over the next few years was to throw herself wholeheartedly into upgrading and renovating the business systems.
2000's - Learning the intricacies of business on the job has it's flaws and helping out and running the business are two completely different situations. Still Petra believed with hard work and invaluable lessons, she could push through a tough economy, and she loved the challenge. Petra expanded to match the market's changing tastes. Now offering interior decorating services, in home consultations, custom upholstery and an eclectic furniture & accessories mix. She also renovated the showrooms and developed her own team comprised of decorators, upholsterers and seamstresses with different strengths and specialties that complemented each other. With good people who love the business comes rewards for the business.
Present- As styles and tastes change, Petra, a savvy business woman, has kept Lincoln Interiors on the leading edge of trends, dedicating herself to searching the markets for excellent quality items at affordable prices for a very diversified clientele. And an important transition was to modernize the logo with a scaled back contemporary "Lincoln Interiors." Today as with all progressive companies, Petra has positioned her company for growth with strategic buying programs, a stronger online presence through social media, blogging and targeted e/mails. With these tools she believes the future is bright.
